The Hidden Past

In 1997, an 18-month search for the best naturally occurring truffle land resulted in the purchase of 20 acres of north facing, exposed Amuri limestone rich Rendzina soils, in Waikari, North Canterbury.  In 1998 the first 450 trees where planted in the best of the land...forming the start or Te Huna Truffiere.

Since then, the truffiere has grown to over 1200 trees, planted in the best of the naturally site on 40 acres. Wanting to keep to as natural management practice as possible, the orchard size has been limited only by the availability of naturally occurring soil in order to produce the best truffle we can.
